A card slot pocket is a vital part of a wallet.
It might seem a bit tricky to make when looking at a constructed wallet but not so much, with a bit of practice and a good tutorial you can make your own.

It is good to do your research before attempting to make a wallet. Less you frustrate yourself and lose interest in bag making.

The above diagram shows the measurement for each fold.
Make things easier for yourself by making a template out of paper or card stock.

Make your own lip balm holder

This way all you have to do is to place the fabric between the folds and press with an iron.
Followed by topstitching the edges of each fold at about 1/4" seam allowance.

Draw a line down the middle of the pocket and sew on that line.
Then baste stitch down the two sides close to the edges to secure the pockets.

Look at the video tutorial below, for a better understanding.

This tutorial is by Janelle Mckay of Emmaline Bags (pattern designer and bag hardware supplier).
The card slot is for her NCW Pattern.
This card slot can be adjusted to suit the size of your project.
Visit her site if you want to try this wallet.
There are free patterns on her website, you should try them before purchasing the NCW pattern.

I will be posting more on constructing a wallet in the future, along with a full tutorial so that the beginners can follow along to sew their own wallets.
