Upcycle Old Jeans! Easy DIY Boxy Pouch Tutorial (Recycled Denim)

How to Make a Boxy Pouch from Upcycled Denim Fabric: Step-by-Step Video Tutorial

Are you looking for a creative and eco-friendly project? In our latest video tutorial, we'll show you how to make a stylish boxy pouch using upcycled denim fabric. This project is perfect for repurposing old jeans and turning them into a functional and fashionable accessory.

Materials Needed:

  • Upcycled denim fabric

  • Zipper (length depends on your pouch size)

  • Sewing machine

  • Scissors

  • Pins

  • Thread

  • Iron

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Prepare Your Denim Fabric Start by cutting your denim fabric into two rectangles. The size of the rectangles will determine the size of your pouch. For a medium-sized pouch, 10x7 inches works well. Don't forget to cut two smaller rectangles for the zipper tabs.

2. Attach the Zipper Place one of the denim rectangles right side up. Lay the zipper face down along one of the long edges. Place a zipper tab on top, aligning the edges. Pin in place and sew using a zipper foot. Repeat for the other side of the zipper.

3. Sew the Sides With the zipper partially open, fold the fabric so the right sides are together. Pin and sew along the sides and bottom, leaving the zipper end open.

4. Create Boxy Corners To give your pouch its boxy shape, pinch each corner to form a triangle. Measure about 1 inch from the corner and sew straight across. Trim the excess fabric.

5. Finish the Edges To prevent fraying, finish the edges with a zigzag stitch or use pinking shears.

6. Turn Right Side Out Turn your pouch right side out through the zipper opening. Press with an iron to give it a polished look.

Why Upcycle Denim? Upcycling denim not only gives new life to old jeans but also helps reduce textile waste. It's a sustainable way to create unique and durable accessories.
