The Mabel |
This is a retro-style bag that is quite stylish but can also be used as a lunch or cosmetic bag.
It can be made from a wide array of fabrics, but today I'm going to be using Vinyl and Quilting cotton.
This is a FREE pattern that is available for download on the Swoon Patterns website, So go there to get your copy and then come back and let's put this cutie together.
If you are a visual learner I will be posting a video tutorial on my Youtube channel called SewlyJo
First, print the pattern and cut it out, Then Add interfacing according to instructions. Pellon shape flex and Peltex were recommended. I chose to use Peltex and Fleece.
Mabel Gusset and Flap

Sew the Exterior and lining gusset by placing the pattern pieces right sides together and stitch using a 1/2" seam allowance |

This is what you should have after sewing |

If you are using vinyl finger press the seam open and stitch on both sides of the seam about 1/4" For the lining use an iron |

Add both the interfacing( Peltex and shape flex or whatever you choose) to the exterior gusset |

Install the magnetic snap closure to the flap and main body of the bag, This process will be shown in detail in the video tutorial on my channel SewlyJo |
