This is a fold-over clutch purse that is made from vinyl and home decor fabric.
Make it fun by using whatever colors and materials you like, jazz it up with a tassel or zipper pull of your choice, basically make it your own this is just a guide. Happy sewing y'all.
To make a two-tone fold-over clutch purse, you will need the following materials:
1/2 yard of fabric for the exterior (color 1)
1/2 yard of fabric for the lining (color 2)
1/2 yard of fusible interfacing
8" zipper
Magnetic snap closure
Sewing machine
Thread
Scissors
Sewing needle
Sewing clips
Instructions:
Wash and dry your fabric.
Cut two pieces of fabric for the exterior of the purse, measuring 12 inches by 18 inches each.
Cut one piece of fabric for the lining of the purse, measuring 12 inches by 18 inches.
Fuse the interfacing to the back of the exterior fabric pieces.
Place the two exterior fabric pieces right sides together and sew along the long edges, leaving a 4-inch opening at the bottom.
Trim the corners and clip the curves.
Turn the purse right side out and press flat.
Sew the opening at the bottom of the purse closed.
Place the lining fabric right side down on the purse, matching the seams.
Sew the lining to the purse along the top edge, leaving a 4-inch opening at the back.
Trim the corners and clip the curves.
Turn the purse inside out and sew the opening in the lining closed.
Press the purse flat.
Sew the zipper to the top edge of the purse, using a zipper foot.
Sew the magnetic snap closure to the front of the purse, following the manufacturer's instructions.
Your two-tone fold-over clutch purse is now complete!
Tips:
If you are using a thin fabric, such as cotton, you may want to interface it with a fusible interfacing to give it more structure.
You can also add a pocket to your purse by cutting a piece of fabric the desired size and sewing it to the inside of the purse.
If you want to make a larger purse, simply increase the size of the fabric pieces.
