Success! |
The Etsy.com website was created for crafters and makers to sell their handmade products online.
This marketplace offers a customer base that is looking to purchased handmade items specifically.
Today's post entails the steps you and I can take to set up our Etsy shops.
I will share with you everything I learnt about how to prepare to get my shop up and running.
Here is how to set up an Etsy shop for success.
Let's go!
Choose a Shop name, banner, icon & image of yourself (use Canva to choose brand colours and font)
Shop Name
Firstly, we will need to brainstorm at least two variations of our potential shop name.
In the event that one of the chosen names were not available, we would have a backup and we could also add shop or boutique to the end if necessary.
It is recommended that the domain name/s of your shop is purchased to make sure that no one else can use the chosen shop name/s.
Websites such as Godaddy, Namecheap, Hostgator etc. offers domain names at affordable prices.

Banner, Icon/logo and Profile image.
I would recommend that you get familiar with the Canva that is the tool I used to create all my graphics.
There are other free graphic design resources such as Picmonkey and VistaCreate.com the choice is yours.

I prefer Canva 😉
If you have the cash to spare, you can have all your graphics made for you by a graphic designer on the Esty marketplace.

Upload an image with the colours that you want and the colour palette generator will show you each colour and its corresponding number so you can add them to all your graphics.
So easy right?

I created an inventory of about 10 products.
At least three or four different colours and styles.
If you just want to test a product before jumping in head first, then I suggest you make just one item and wait and see how it goes before you invest further.
Step #3
Check local postal service to find out the shipping cost. Then decide on a retail price for the product/s.
Use Etsy profit calculator. to calculate Etsy fees and profit margin.

Step #4
Take clean and clear product pictures from different angles,
take pics on white background.
I use a foam board because it is cheap and can be found at your local stationery store.
Use editing tools to clean up your images E.g.
I used Snapseed a free app that is available in the Google play store.
Optimize your product titles, descriptions and tags with sales converting keywords.
Step #6
PIN this for future reference |
I use Pinterest to promote my products.
Long pins 600x1500px again I used Canva to make all social media graphics.
